TTP denied peace talks with government

Bajaur Agency, December 11, 2011: Chief of Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) Bajaur Maullah Dadullah on Sunday strongly denied the reports of peace talks between TTP and the government.
“There is no progress in peace talks with the government and we do not want any peace deal with the latter in Bajaur agency”, a senior TTP commander introducing himself to be Maulla Dadullahand told FRC from an undisclosed location.
Maullah Dadullah denied TTP leader Maulvi Faqir claims about the negotiation for peace agreement with government while saying there is no ongoing talks with the government.
“We neither believe in talks with Pakistani government nor in a mode of peace talks, until Sharia is implemented in the whole country”, said TTP leader, adding that fighting against the government will continue. He further said that is no ceasefire and TTP activities are still going on.
Yesterday, Maulvi Faqir Muhammad, the deputy TTP chief and an important commander of Bajaur based Taliban, claimed talks with the government. He had also announced progress in peace talks, which resulted in the release of 145 Taliban prisoners and ceasefire by the Taliban.
According to the credible source, there are some strong internal groups in the TTP’s Bajaur chapter and Mullah Dadullah is one of the influential commanders.
In 2010 Maualive Faqir Muhammad the 2nd senior chief of TTP was removed from the local leadership of TTP Bajaur Agency and then Maulana Dadulah was appointed as chief of TTP Bajaur Agency. The position of Maulvie Faiqir group is very strong in Bajaur and hundreds of militants are supporting him.
FRC learnt from the local people that secret peace talks between the government and the Maulvie Faiqir Muhammad’s militants group is in progress and 5 members Tribal jirga of Mamound tribe are taking part in this process and Maulvie Faiqir and his some close associates are in Bajaur for the last 2 weeks.
Meanwhile the Tribal elders and heads of the peace committees of the various Tribe of the Bajaur agency have strongly reacted to reports about the peace talks between the Taliban and the government and demanded of the government to take them in confidence before any agreement with the militants.
Talking to this correspondent on Sunday, tribal elders and heads of the peace committees belonging to Mamound, Slarzi and Nawagi tribe said that they are not against peace agreement with the militants, however they have some reservations in this regards.
